Paddy Flemming

Paddy Fleming is a 5th generation Montanan whose family first came to Montana in 1862.  He was raised on a small farm and ranch near Charlo, MT.  He is currently the Director of the Montana Manufacturing Extension Center (MMEC) which is part of the College of Engineering at Montana State University.  He has been associated with MMEC since 2000 where he has consulted with hundreds of manufacturers throughout Montana.

In his early career, he worked for several companies in the industrial machinery and the paper converting industries including BW Paper Systems, International Paper, and Tenneco.  He holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Montana State University and a master’s degree in business administration from Olivet Nazarene University. 

Paddy serves on numerous boards including Montana Ambassadors Board, State Workforce Innovation Board, Montana Chamber of Commerce Board, Montana Economic Developers Association Board, Montana Small Business Development Centers Board, Montana Jobs Network Board, Montana Work Based Learning Collaborative Board, Montana Department of Agriculture Regional Food Business Center Advisory Board, MSU Economic Development Council, Montana Tech Mechanical Engineering Advisory Board, UM-Western Business Department Advisory Board, Pacific Northwest Defense Coalition Board, and the NIST-MEP Center Leadership Board. 

Paddy has over 34 years of experience in leading, managing and improving manufacturing businesses.  He was named the 2015 Montana Manufacturing Advocate of the Year by the Montana Manufacturing Association.
